Welcome
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to the website of the European Thermoelectric Society e.V. (ETS). If you are interested in Thermoelectricity, have questions about the technology or want to get in contact with European Thermoelectricians you’ve come to the right place!! I would strongly recommend that you join the society, attend the famous annual conference ECT, expand your knowledge, and make new friends. Come and join the European key people in this field to guide your own activities and to shape together the future of European Thermoelectrics.
The ETS was established legally in Swiss in 2012 as an independent, non-profit association. The idea to establish a European network on thermoelectrics started to take shape already in 1987 at the First European Conference on Thermoelectrics in Cardiff, UK, organized by M.D. Rowe. The ETS was founded in 1995 as a regional organization of the International Thermoelectric Society and H. Scherrer became the first president. As the interest has grown, so the ETS has become increasingly important in guiding and supporting Thermoelectricity in Europe. We are committed to watch trends, give directions for future activities, develop visions, and render guidance to those interested in this field.
Nowadays ETS represents both a European contact point for research, economy, politics and the interested public and hub of excellence for scientific and industrial interaction. This combination has given rise to vital exchange of expertise, deep technological know-how, important research collaborations and long-term friendships.
With all best wishes,
President of ETS
Dr. J. König
